Pastor Brian contrasts the Old Covenants between God and his people and the perfection of the New Covenant as noted in Hebrews 8. From the moment God created Adam he faithfully sought relationship with his people. They continually rejected relationship with him. Unlike the Old Covenants, the unconditional and eternal New Covenant is mediated by Jesus who perfectly and completely atoned for the sin of all and restored relationship. While it’s necessary to know God’s law, we are no longer bound by the external rules of what we must do. Instead, we’re transformed internally. What we want to do and get to do is constrained by our response and surrender to Jesus!
