Pastor Brian Goke examines Jesus’ parable about the sin of pride recorded in Luke 14. In stark contrast to a life of pride, Jesus modeled and taught us to live a life of humility! Humility is not about thinking less of self but about thinking about self less. We recognize that humility is painful. It was painful for Jesus, who came not for the feel good story of a baby in a manger, but for the agonizing story of death on a cross. Humility is also hopeful – the cross was not the end of the story! Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven provides the ending in which He is exalted and now rules and reigns with the Father. Salvation begins when we lay down our pride and know that we need rescue and we need Jesus.
