Synopsis

Jeff Pitzer explains that Deuteronomy expounds upon God’s laws to set the Israelites and promised land apart for his unique purposes. As the Jewish people later rejected Jesus, God grafted Gentiles into (but not as replacement for) his chosen people. The modern nation of Israel remains important because God’s gifts and call are irrevocable. Isn’t it encouraging to live in a time when we can see that God faithfully brought his people back to the land that he promised? He didn’t abandon them. He still loves and pursues them! We, too, can have confidence in God’s promises.
