Pastor Brian Goke explains that while David did lot of things wrong, he desired to please God. David sought to honor and serve God and live out his purposes. Although flawed, David’s posture of humility, unnatural reactions, and restrained strength foreshadowed Jesus’ perfect words and actions. David refused personal retaliation but allowed for providential intervention. He trusted God. In the same way, regardless of other people’s behavior, we can live as people who are humble and gracious toward others. Because we have been forgiven, we can forgive through an act of the will and the power of the Holy Spirit, in spite of how we may feel.
