Synopsis

Pastor Brian Goke examines Jesus’ relationship with the Father (Creator) and Jesus’ relationship with us (created). Paul’s use of prepositions in Colossians 1 helps us understand who Jesus really is. Jesus is like the Father. He is the exact, indistinguishable image of God the Father. Jesus is eternally existent, before and over creation. Jesus sustains creation, holds it together, and will one day allow the order to devolve back into chaos to be remade. Jesus is above the church. We’re confident in his leadership into ministry and mission, because in Jesus is the fullness of God. Jesus’ relationship with us comes through his blood. It matters for our very lives and salvation who Jesus is! Jesus is God incarnate who came from heaven to earth, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and destroyed the power of death. We are saved by this free gift of grace . . . full stop!
