Pastor Brian Goke assures us that scripture does not instruct us about money because God needs something from us, but because he wants something for us. Consistently practicing firstfruit offerings provides freedom and peace. Returning our firstfruits allows us to declare that God (1) loves first, (2) went first, and (3) is first! A practical approach to this discipline for Jesus followers is to plan our offering and offer what we plan. Let’s not return only our leftovers to God!
