Jim Pitzer examines Paul’s letter, one of the most important theological essays, to the early church in Rome. The Christians were under the pressure of the powerful, influential Roman empire. It was acceptable to add Jesus to the pantheon; but Jesus, above their gods as Lord of Lords wasn’t acceptable. Today, Jesus’ name often elicits similar negative reaction. The gospel of Jesus is God’s power for salvation. It is his righteousness transferred to us by faith. Like the early church, we’re called to proclaim the gospel to the world that would like to shame us into silence. Since we’re growing disciples who grow disciples, we’ll proudly wear our “Let’s talk about Jesus” T-shirts!
