1 Kings 19 – Renovaré

Pastor Brian Goke explains that we don’t only have the options of Fight or Flight. We can choose to lean into faith in Jesus Christ. Elijah witnessed miracles and through God’s power was victorious over 850 false prophets. Yet, as is common, Elijah experienced discouragement after encouragement. Tired, hungry, and harboring unreliable feelings about God’s greater work, he took flight. Like Elijah, we expect to meet God in the earth, wind, and fire experiences and are energized by our genuine responses in those highly emotive moments. As we move back into the mundane, though, those moments aren’t sustaining. So, it’s critical that we practice the spiritual discipline of prayer and listen for God’s still, small voice!
