Pastor Brian Goke describes the weariness of the Israelites as their “check engine light” came on. Instead of acknowledging it, they allowed themselves to spiral into complaining and making false statements. Finally crying out, the Israelites asked God to change their circumstances. Instead, God provided the only solution for healing: they were to look up (at the Bronze snake) and believe. Being the only perfectly just judge, he restored his people through an exercise of faith and trust. Likewise, the only thing we can do to fix our broken relationship with God is to trust and believe in rescue and restoration through Jesus Christ. Look up! Sola fide!
