Pastor Brian Goke notes that Abraham’s role in God’s eternal redemption story was not granted because of what Abraham did, but who God is. To allay Abraham’s fears, God points him to the stars as a reassuring picture of his exponential power and strength. In Abraham’s belief, God restores their relationship. Because we see Abraham’s sin and our own, the idea of justification by faith is hard to grasp. But it is the same for us. God gracefully seeks and invites us into restored relationship by faith alone. Our true testimony can be “I believe what Jesus did on the cross counted for me.” Amen
