The Bible from 35,000 Feet – Nehemiah

Tom Anderson describes the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls as a foreshadow of Jesus’ work. Nehemiah had compassion for his people, prayed, forfeited comfort, and led the restoration of the wall and community. After the accomplishment of Nehemiah’s mission, the remnant in Jerusalem slipped back into sinful behavior. Similarly, we cannot save ourselves; we need a savior! Jesus freely left the glory of heaven to walk among us, face opposition, redeem us, and restore our relationship with God. Jesus is the bridge. We can live in community with peace, the joy of the Lord, and certain hope for the future. Let’s tell future generations the truth of God’s faithfulness!
